Results and Pictures from 2011
Testing at a very wet Blyton in Feb 2011:
Testing at Tockwith Mar 2011, a nice dry day to practise launches and set up handling.
Round 1 at Lydden Hill 26/27 March 2011. Had some handling issues but car was reliable all weekend. Just need drivers to get a wiggle on now!
BTRDA Round 1 at Blyton April 17. A grand day but with loose sections soaked every 3 races it made it difficult for traction. Got a dry run in 3rd heats and set 4th fastest time of day, looks like some progress!
MSA Round 2 / BTRDA round 2 Blyton Park Night Race May 07. Steady progress all day, started 6th in A final and finished 3rd. First piece of silverware for Team Yorkshire Terriers.
BTRDA Round 3 at Blyton Park June 19. Had a good day, qualified for A Final. Started on back row and made it up to 3rd on last lap until............... But still got classified 4th O/A and 2nd in class.
We had an on board camera that day and the last lap incident can be seen here.
BTRDA Round 4 at Blyton Park on July 31. This was the Dominic Yates memorial race, a good size entry and some good racing. After getting car repaired after previous incidents we were looking for some better luck. Unfortunately we were in a first heat, first lap incident with a couple of cars and bent the front wings, broke a wheel and bent steering.
BTRDA Round 5 at Blyton Park on 14 August 2011. The last time at Blyton this year, need to make the most of it as we should know the circuit by now. Things went well, 3rd heat 1, 1st heat 2, 1st heat 3 and pole for A final :)
And then we got one of these,
A win in the A final, a trophy and a nice collection of points, Thanks Tony
BTRDA Round 6 at Lydden Hill on Bank Holiday Monday 29 Aug 2011. An awesome entry of 100+ cars with the British Round also. A new circuit for me to learn and the need to collect points made for an interesting day. All 11 cars in our class were on grid together and that made it interesting in first corner.
And some action from the weekend:
With the Mallory round cancelled, Knockhill became the last round, but with double points it was still all to play for. Anyone of 3 drivers could win Supermod title and we had to try hard. A wet weekend but all went well.
So, final 2011 championship positions are below.
The final round of the British Championship was held at Croft on Sat in early November with the return of the Grand Prix on the Sunday. Having just got John's rally car finished we thought we would use the weekend as a test. Gary drove the rally car on Sat with John in the Crosser and on Sun we swapped cars.
We also had the in car camera on board, there was a bit of action in one of the heats:
There is also footage of same heat from trackside:
